Regardless of whether you are in need of healing or are looking for a sure fire prevention against sickness and disease, God's Word will work for you. Contained in this outline, are some simple steps that you can take to get God's Covenant of Healing to work for you.
You Must Know God's Will
Faith begins where the will of God is known. Faith Ends where the question mark begins.
The first step to receiving supernatural health from the Word of God is knowing that it is His will for you to be healed and to walk in perfect health. Faith must be centered on God's Word, not man's desires or traditions. (Exodus 15:26, Exodus 23:25, Psalm 103:3, Psalm 107:20, Matthew 8:16, Luke 6:17-18, I Peter 2:24)
You must believe and understand that not only can God heal you, but that He is willing to heal you. We read in the scriptures where someone questioned Jesus about whether or not it was His will to heal him (Luke 5:12-13). When the leper asked Jesus if He was willing, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him saying, "I am willing, be cleansed!" This willingness has never ceased. All through the Old and New Testaments, God's Word is clear on this subject. Just look at the following verses of scripture that allow us to see that God's Will never changes.
- I am the Lord that heals you. (Exodus 15:26)
- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
- He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind. (1 Samuel 15:29)
Aren't you glad that in Exodus 15:26 God didn't say "I was the Lord who used to heal" or that "I am the Lord who will one day heal you" God said, " I AM the Lord that heals you!" This text is present tense. It's just as true today as it was when He first spoke it.
You Must Know His Provision
When Jesus died on the cross, He personally paid the price to purchase your freedom - spirit, soul, and body. God, who created mankind with an intact spirit, soul, and body to begin with, did not overlook any of these three areas when Jesus died on the cross. He has purchased your healing with His blood.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)
Sickness and disease is a byproduct of the curse, something that every believer has been delivered from. Galatians 3:13 and Romans 8:2 tells us that we have been completely liberated from the curse, sin, sickness and death.
In addition to being liberated, Jesus has provided everything necessary for you to live the "abundant" life. In John 10:10, we read were Jesus said "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)" (AMP). Notice that it is the devil that tries to destroy our lives with sickness and it is Jesus who came to give us a healthy, abundant, enjoyable life.
My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. (Proverbs 4:20-22)
There are two important things that you must do to receive your healing and/or preserve your health.
#1 Build up your faith with the Word of God. ( Romans 10:17, Romans 12:2, Joshua 1:8)
This is accomplished by continually exposing yourself to the Word of God. This can be accomplished by reading it, listening to it via CD, DVD, or cassette, attending church regularly and so forth. If you are battling a serious illness, you cannot afford to allow the sickness to work in your body 24 hours a day and only expose yourself the health-giving Word of the Living God only 15 minutes a day. Let's imagine that two armies are set to do battle. One side fights continually, 24 hours a day, advancing to take control of the land. The other side only fights back 15 minutes a day. What side do you think would win? This is what is happening when sickness and disease attack. They will work without stopping unless you push it back by building up your faith and doing step number 2.
#2 Speak the Word of God.
James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Submit yourself by agreeing with God. Say what He says about you and the devil will leave you, taking his sickness with him. This is how Jesus handled the devil, as He was tempted in the wilderness. No matter what the devil threw at Him, He answered with the Word of God. God says that by Jesus' stripes you were healed. Agree with God and declare that you are healed!
Your words matter. Below are listed just a few of the scriptures that support the truth that you must not only read the Word of God, but speak it aloud to receive your healing.
- A man's self shall be filled with fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied whether good or evil. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it for death or life. (Proverbs 18:20-21)
- For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 12:37)
- the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. (Proverbs 12:6)
- Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)
- You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light of God's favor shall shine upon your ways. (Job 22:28)
- In John 6:63 , Jesus said " the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. As you continue to speak words of "life," you will drive sickness from your body. Don't ever let up on this fight of faith and you will win! Heaven is on your side.
As you read the scriptures, personalize them by inserting your name or a personal pronoun. For example, Revelation 12:11 in the NIV text reads: They overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Now when you read this passage of scripture, agree with God and say; I have overcome the devil and this sickness by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony!
The confessions below are all scripture-based with the accompanying reference. Speak these confessions continually.
- I worship You, Lord. Your blessing is on my food and water. You take away all sickness from among me. I have a full span of life.
(Exodus 23:25)
- I trust in You, Father God, and I thank You that according to Your Word, You give me the desires and secret petitions of my heart. I choose this day to commit my way (my course of life, mode of action, conversation, custom, manner and journey) to You and to turn over all of my cares onto You and You bring to pass complete healing in my body. (Psalm 37:1-5)
- Father, I dwell in Your secret place. I say of you that You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely, You will deliver me from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. You will cover me with Your feathers, and under Your wings, I will find refuge; Your faithfulness will be my shield and rampart. I will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand, but it will not come near me. I will only observe with my eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. As I make the Most High my dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- then no harm will befall me; no disaster, plague, calamity will come near my home for You have given Your angels charge over me to keep, defend and preserve me in all of my ways; they will lift me up in their hands, so that I will not strike my foot against a stone. I will tread upon the lion and the cobra; I will trample the great lion and the serpent. Father You said that because I love You, You will rescue me; You will protect me, for I acknowledge Your name. I call upon You, and You answer me; You are with me in trouble, You deliver me and honor me. With long life will You satisfy me and show me Your salvation. ( Psalm 91)
- I bless You, Lord , with all of my soul and all that is deepest within me, I bless Your Holy name. I will not forget any of Your benefits, You forgive me of all my sins and heal all of my diseases. You redeem my life from the pit and crown me with love and compassion. You satisfy my mouth with good things so that my youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103)

- I wait upon You, Lord, and You renew my strength, I mount up with wings as eagles, I run and I am never weary, I walk and I do not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
- I thank you, Father, that Jesus has borne my griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried my sorrows and pains of punishment. He was wounded for my transgressions, He was bruised for my guilt and iniquities; the chastisement needful to obtain my peace and well-being was upon Him, and with the stripes that wounded Him I am healed and made whole. ( Isaiah 53:4-5)
- I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am far from even the thought of oppression or destruction. I do not fear. I am far from terror. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. ( Isaiah 54:14-17)
- Jesus, as You have commanded, I go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. And these signs accompany me as I believe: In Your name I drive out demons; I speak in new tongues; and if I drink deadly poison, it will not hurt me at all; I lay my hands on the sick, and they get well. ( Mark 16:17-18)
